Quarter Pound Of Meth, 2 Pounds Of Pot, 3 Handguns Seized From Berks Drug Dealer: DA

More than a quarter pound of methamphetamine, two pounds of marijuana and three handguns with obliterated serial numbers were seized from a meth dealer in Berks County, authorities said.

The Berks County DA's Office got a tip in January that Matthew McClain, 24, was dealing meth out of his Mount Penn home, they said.

A search warrant executed at his home on Woodvale Avenue turned up the following:

  • Approximately one hundred seventy grams (0.3 pounds) of suspected methamphetamine
  • One loaded Taurus G2C 9mm handgun, the serial number was obliterated
  • One loaded Taurus 709, 9mm handgun, the serial number was obliterated
  • One loaded Charter Arms .22 caliber revolver, the serial number was partially obliterated
  • $12,786 in United States currency believed to be proceeds from sales of methamphetamine
  • Digital scales, packaging material and drug paraphernalia related to processing methamphetamine for street sales
  • A stock of ammunition
  • Approximately 2 pounds of marijuana

McClain was arrested on drug and weapons charges following the execution of a second search warrant on Friday, March 11 around 6 a.m. McClain was transported to the Berks County Sheriff’s Department Central Processing Center where he is awaiting arraignment by the on-duty District Judge.
